Veggie Friendly Restaurants in SAN FRANCISCO

POGGIO (Location: 777 Bridgeway, Sausalito CA)

My friend had seen Poggio reviewed on a Californian TV show and had wanted to visit ever since - and it was well worth the trip! One half an hour boat ride away from San Francisco and you're in the picturesque holiday town island of Sausalito. An Italian eatery that is well known for it's freshly made pasta and in house speciality burrata (fresh Italian cheese made with mozzarella and cream with melt-in-your-mouth properties).

We started with the burrata served with tomatoes and fresh basil - absolutely tantalizing on the taste buds and delicately seasoned. Next was the gnocchi with potato slices, parmiagana and basis pesto. WOW. I remember being unable to quite articulate the sensation when I took my first mouthful - I just needed another! Portions are not huge but just enough to leave you feeling satisfied and craving to come back soon. Very well priced - about $20 each for shared starter and main.

TIRAMISU (Location: 28 Belden, San Francisco, CA, 94104)

This is a cute little Italian eatery tucked away on Beldon, very central and on a quaint little street where al fresco dining seemed to take up the whole street!

Our meal was a little dear but the tasty fair was definably palatable and more! I went for the mixed green salad with balsamic dressing and the pesto pappardelle.  The pesto was suitably fresh and well seasoned and the generous serving was definitely good value.  We were tempted by the impressive dessert menu but we simply didn't have space to indulge! Good service and a lovely interior made for a lovely first evening out in San Fran.
